A trio of Alfred State faculty members were honored with the Excellence in Faculty Advising Award. Tony Aquilina (Assistant Professor Business), Stephen Cady (Instructor Building Trades), and Breanna Willson (Assistant Professor Nursing).
Aquilina’s nominators credit him for caring for his students and having a willingness to listen to and help solve problems and for going above and beyond to ensure all his students understand the material. His students expressed gratitude for setting up learning experiences outside of the classroom like with the Buffalo Bills and the NCAA Tournament.
Cady was honored by his students for going above and beyond and making extra efforts to make sure his students understand the materials. He also tailored his teaching to the needs of each student and always looking for new ways to improve the learning experience and for being genuine, caring, and treating every student with respect.
Willson was credited by her nominators for advocating for students and standing up for what’s right, for always making time for her students and being a helpful resource, and for being enthusiastic about the student’s education and wanting the best for them.
ASC President Dr. Steve Mauro presented each of the three recipients a glass star and a certificate to commemorate the award.
