Hornell star goalie, Alfie Whiteley continued his dominant season, earning his his 16th shutout of the season with Hornell’s 2-0 win over the Livonia Bulldogs.
Senior standout, Wyatt Evingham put Hornell on the scoreboard 15 minutes into the game, giving the Red Raiders early momentum. Jayden Rasephei scored off a Marco Picco assist with 7 minutes to go in the first half.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have the chance to play in our 5th in a row Sectional Championship,” commented Hornell coach, Jim Tobin, after the game. “The boys played an amazing 40 minutes to start the game. Wyatt Evingham hit a perfect shot from 30 yards out to put us up 1-0. Jayden Rasephei put us up 2-0 after scoring off a rebound from a Marco Picco shot.”
“We had trememdous play from Marco Picco and Cody Cardamone at midfield. They were able to control the game,” Tobin continued. “Our defense recorded their 9th straight shutout. Goalie Alfie Whiteley was solid in goal. Our defenders were great in front of him. They were led by Nick Gray, Demayne Dixon, Ryan Harkenrider, and Logan Weitzel.”
The Red Raiders will take on LeRoy Cal-Mum in the championship match Saturday night at 6:00pm and Honeoye Falls – Lima High School.
