HAHS offers $500, Racalto’s Restaurant offers $1000 in matching donation
From Hornell Humane Society,
WE NEED THE PUBLIC’S HELP – PLEASE READ
At approximately 4:30pm today (11/2) we received the disturbing phone call from authorities that witnesses observed someone carrying a cat in a grocery bag, slam the bag with the cat in it to the ground, and walk away. This took place in front of Monroe Muffler at 7419 Seneca Rd N in Hornell.
Witnesses state the person involved was a black male dressed in black long sleeves and black pants, wearing a yellow backpack.
The cat, now lovingly named “Mister”, is currently receiving care at Cornell. Authorities are investigating, however we are hoping this post can bring light to the situation and help find the person involved. Please contact the NYS Troopers at 607-776-2182 if you have information that would be helpful in this case.
*Update on Mister, the sweet cat that we posted the horrific incident about yesterday (original post linked in comments). Mister is in good hands at Cornell receiving the medical care he needs. He has a fracture of his left femur at the hip and multiple traumas causing blood in his chest and urine (but the hope is this will resolve on its own). Despite everything he’s been through, Mister is still so sweet and loving with staff at Cornell. This is estimated to cost us between $4500 to $6500, however we firmly believe Mister deserves a second chance to know the true love of a family that he clearly never got.
Thank you to the witnesses that rushed the cat to us, thank you to our staff for their quick thinking to get this cat immediate medical attention, and thank you to our volunteer for transporting Mister to receive care.
From Racalto’s Restaurant on Seneca Road in Hornell:
$500 reward and a $1000 match
To our community—while we normally reserve this page strictly for restaurant-related posts, what happened to this innocent kitten is beyond what any decent human being can ignore, and we will not stay silent.
Jay and I are personally offering a $500 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of the monster responsible for this heinous act.
Racalto’s will also match donations up to $1,000 to support the medical care and recovery of this kitten. More details on how to donate will follow shortly.
We are also in the process of giving our security footage to the troopers in the hope that it may help identify this individual. Let’s be very clear—this kind of vile, heartless cruelty has no place in our community, and we will do everything in our power to bring this person to justice.
