First Day Hike planned in Allegany County

IMPACT: Friends Improving Allegany County Trails, Inc. will be providing leaders for the First Day Hike, January 1, 2026

From IMPACT,

Hikers (or skiers, snowshoers) will gather and register at the Phillips Creek State Forest parking area on State Route 244 starting at 10:30 am. Hikers will head out at 11 am. Leashed dogs are welcome to join their owners. The planned routes are Trails 1, 2, 3 and the Beginner Cross Country Ski Trail.

Camping headlamps will be provided for the first 50 registrants, and commemorative bandanas are available to the first 70 registrants. There will be a drawing for a $25 gift card, which can be used at DEC campground locations.
