GALLERY: Four departments respond to contain blaze
From the Whitesville Volunteer Fire Department,

At 4:55 PM, the Whitesville Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched for a call after smoke was reported in the Paynesville Hill area.
Responding from Whitesville were:
W50 – Todd Sherman
W2 β Phil Saunders
W6 β Josh Fry
11 additional personnel





Also assisting on scene were Wellsville NY Vol. Fire Department , Willing Volunteer Hose Company#1 , Genesee Township Volunteer Fire /Ems Dept. Station 37, DC3, Independence Emergency Squad, Inc Independence PD, Whitesville Ladies Auxiliary , and a NYS Forest Ranger.

Crews worked together to contain the fire, which ultimately burned approximately 3.7 acres before being brought under control.
Reminder: New York Stateβs annual burn ban is in effect March 16 through May 14. This ban helps prevent wildfires during the dry spring season. We ask everyone to please follow the regulations and help keep our community safe.
