Patsy R. Hulse, age 82, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026 after a brief illness, surrounded by the love of her family at Jones Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Jasper on March 20, 1943 to Howard and Agnes Sherman, Patsy lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and the joy she found in caring for others. Known throughout Greenwood and the surrounding communities as “Grandma Patsy,” she was happiest when her home was full—family gathered around her table, the smell of something baking in the oven, and her laughter filling the room. Patsy had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. She loved cooking, baking, and providing for anyone who walked through her door. She also enjoyed puzzles and was an avid college basketball fan, cheering passionately for her favorite teams, Syracuse and Duke.
Patsy was predeceased by her husband, Burdette Hulse; her parents, Howard and Agnes Sherman; her brother, Dale Sherman, and sister, Waneta O’Dell, brothers-in-law, Howard Hulse & Cal Graves.
She is survived by her children: Michael Hulse, Theresa (Terry) Billings, David (Michelle) Hulse, Darleen (Joe) Meehan, Lisa (Shawn) Mills all of Greenwood and one Norwegian daughter, Mona Lilletjernbakken. She was the proud grandmother of Brett (Kendal) Wallace, Brielle (Shane) Gilbert, MacKenzie Krisher, Nathan (Jessica) Krisher, Johnathan (Christy) Hulse, Noah Hulse, Sarah (Eric) Post, Trevor (Leah) Hulse, and Brynn, Brayden, and Brooklynn Mills; eight great grandchildren with one on the way; and countless “adopted grandchildren” who loved her dearly.
She also leaves behind her brother, Paul (Diane) Sherman; Sister-in-Laws, Leah Sherman, Barbara Graves and Patricia Hulse; brother-in-law, Leo Hulse and several nieces and nephews. Patsy will be remembered for her loving, helping, kind, and gentle spirit—qualities she shared freely with everyone she met.
