Margaret Ann Dunn, 88, Staunton VA, formerly Arkport

Margaret Ann “Maggie” Dunn – 88 – of Staunton, VA, formerly of Arkport, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, June 8, 2026 at Augusta Hospital, following a short illness.

Born in Hornell on February 23, 1938, she was the daughter of Joseph & Theresa (Mahoney) Rechichi.

Margaret grew up in Hornell and was a graduate of Hornell High School (class of 1956).  She was an active member with her graduating class and continued to be active member of the alumni association for several years later until moving to Virgina.

She attended educational classes after high school for finance and bookkeeping.  Margaret held many positions throughout her life while raising her family.  She worked for the Big N, Airport Road Color Lab, and Hornell Electronics, where she retired in 2000.

Maggie was an active member of the Arkport American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and worked many events preparing food and drinks.  After retiring she enjoyed traveling and going to casinos.  

Margaret enjoyed spending time with family friends at the many events taking place all around Arkport and Hornell.  In her earlier years, Margaret enjoyed picnics and get-togethers at Stony Brook and Letchworth State Parks.  Summers at Wanita Lake were always very special and memorable times.  She was a big fan of the Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees.

Margaret was married on July 11, 1959 to Laurence “Larry” Dunn who passed away in 2017.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Rich Dunn; 1 sister, Marie O’Dell; 3 brothers, Joe Rechichi, John Rechichi, and Jim Rechichi; along with her grandson, Joseph Paddock.

Surviving are 2 sons, Mike (Linda) Dunn of Haymarket, VA, Dan (Barbara) Dunn of Staunton, VA;  her daughter-in-law, Terrie Dunn of Arkport; 8 grandchildren (Jennifer, Eric, Adam, Alex, Ryan, Danielle, Samantha, and Alexandra); 6 great-grandchildren (Mickayla, Dylyn, Saige, Jaide, Emily, and Wiley); 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.

The family of Margaret Dunn will receive friends on Friday, June 19, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Dagon Funeral Home, 38 Church St., Hornell, NY where a Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion at 6:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. A reception for family and friends will immediately follow at the Arkport American Legion. A private burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 for immediate family only.

Margaret’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to the

St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
