Man struck on e-bike in hit-and-run dies from injuries; reward for information and arrest at $15,000 from family

A popular Olean man who was riding his e-bike in Olean and was struck in a hit-and-run accident on June 20 died from his injuries today.

The family of Nicholas “Nick” G. Meyer announced today he died at the age of 35 at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.

The Olean Police Department has asked the public for any information on the accident as they worked on finding out which type of vehicle struck Meyer while on the e-bike. A post on the Olean Police Department Facebook page asking for help has been removed. A call for more information to the Olean Police Department was not immediately returned. The accident took place at 2:45 a.m.

Nick Meyer’s brother, Kyle Meyer, said in the Facebook post, “

Not the update we wanted to make: It’s with great sadness that our family makes the announcement of the passing of my brother, Nick Meyer. Please keep our family in prayer during this time. More details to follow.”

After the accident, family members said they would put up a $15,000 reward leading to the arrest.

“They left a father and husband, for dead,” Kyle Meyer said after the accident.Nick Meyer was found by his wife. The popular Olean man had a lot of friends and family rally around him and offer prayers. Buffalo Bills’ offensive lineman Dion Dawkins also reached out with prayers.
