Experience necessary and “good taste” is a must!!

We all have one thing in common: Food. We must eat and we spend hours each day planning, shopping for, and actually eating our meals. Some people love breakfast, others enjoy lunch, tea, and happy hour best, and dinner is the main event of the day for most of us. Our food brings us joy, culture, nutrition, fellowship, and define our community. Just imagine how dull life would be without greasy spoons, pizza shops, great restaurants, wineries, brew pubs, farm stands, ice cream shops, or pancake houses !?!?
In our humble opinion, food is news. What’s on special? How is that new place in town? Who has the best fish fry in the area? What is on the new menu?
Face it we are all food curious, daydreaming about our next feast, and planning “what’s for dinner?”
The Sun needs a Food and Beverage Editor to bring this news to our readers. We have a brand new SunsDiningGuide.com that needs a food inspired soul to grow and achieve our goal of being a regional hub for dining information and food news.
Are you interested? Hungry ? Experienced?
Each are important to make this work. You must love food and drink, all kinds, all flavors, with an open mind for trying new food. You also have to be hungry, literally and figuratively. This work requires an appetite and a desire to visit and promote the vibrant food and beverage scene in the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes region. Experience is necessary: Writers preferred, industry experience a big plus, a combination of both would be perfect!! Insight, industry contacts, and culinary skills are all very important. A food editor with creative photo and video skills would be ideal.
The job description is still “cooking,” but this much we can tell you: We need someone to visit local restaurants and document the visit with text, photo, and video. That someone will also be asked to take our new baby Dining Guide and grow it into the future, along with the corresponding social media. The work will require reliable transportation to take day trips, lunch adventures, and dinner dates. Ideally the new food editor will enjoy cooking and sharing recipes, networking with chefs, owners, and staff.
This work is for an independent contractor to provide content for our news sites and social media. Pay is negotiable and the job would start as part-time but could certainly grow into full-time work.
