From Bassage for 8th Ward,
Hornell, NY – James M. Bassage Sr. (8th Ward) is seeking re-election for a eighth term as 8th Ward Alderman in the City of Hornell. Bassage stated, “I am excited to announce that I am seeking another term representing Hornell’s 8th Ward at City Hall. These past sixteen years on the City Council have been rewarding as I feel I have continually and successfully advocated for the 8th Ward residents to resolve their issues and effectively present their concerns.”
Working with the other City Council members has been a key for success. Bassage stated, “I believe we have and are continuing to improve the quality of life in the City of Hornell and I pledge to continue to work towards improving the quality of life in Hornell.”
Three major focuses for this term on the Common Council will be continuing to:
- Work with the Codes Office to identify and address blight issues in the 8th Ward and city
- Work for street and infrastructure improvements
- Support law enforcement efforts to address drug issues to ensure safe and secure neighborhoods
“I have developed a good rapport with the other City Council members and Department Heads at City Hall and together we have been successful in improving the quality of life in the 8th Ward and the City of Hornell. A couple examples of these efforts are; have worked closely with the codes office to identify vacant properties and working to eliminate blight in the 8th ward. In the last two years, 25 City streets were paved in the city, including the much needed Crosby , Seymour and Vincent streets in the eighth ward 2023. We have made significant enhancements in our city parks, with the opening of Union Square park and major enhancements at Veterans Park along with improvements to the Downtown area. I look forward to the opportunity to continue to represent the 8th Ward residents at City Hall, and to work with the Mayor and the other Council members to continue to improve the Quality of Life and make Hornell a City we can all be proud of. ” said Bassage.
