Mayor Buckley: Thurston “kind and calm,” bringing residents “comfort and trust”
From City Hall,
The Employee Spotlight proudly shines on Officer Tim Thurston, who was appointed as a patrolman to the Hornell Police Department in 2019.
A United States Air Force veteran, Thurston served as a surveillance and warning supervisor and intelligence analyst, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant before returning to his hometown area. His military experience brings discipline, leadership, and a strong sense of duty to his work as a police officer.
Officer Thurston’s kind and calm demeanor is evident in every interaction, benefiting both the department and the community. He is patient, dedicated, and demonstrates excellent decision-making in critical moments. Thurston also serves on the DIVERT team, where he is trained to assist individuals seeking help with addiction by connecting them with specialists at CASA-Trinity.
Mayor John Buckley shared, “I often receive compliments from residents who interact with our police officers. Officer Thurston is consistently recognized for his kind and thorough response, which residents deeply appreciate. Just last week, I had a meeting with residents that noted their comfort and trust with Officer Thurston when he responded to their call. Their words remind me how fortunate we are to have officers like him, whose compassion strengthens the heart of Hornell.”
Congratulations and thank you, Officer Thurston, for your continued service to our community.
