GALLERY: Birds at the feeder, have a great weekend!

By Janie Ferguson,

It is currently sixty-four degrees, and cloudy this Friday, June 26, 2026th morning at just past 8:00 am here in the beautiful hamlet of Cameron Mills, NY along the Canisteo River. There is an expected high of seventy-six today.

I just put my bird seed back out this morning, and a radiant male cardinal came nearby to sing his song to me, in thanks for the breakfast meal he was about to receive. I greeted him back to say, good morning, and as I walked off he was the first one at my feeder. So far this morning there have been grosbeaks, downy woodpeckers, sparrows, orioles, a black bird, starling and of course the red squirrels, too.

I begin this week with a stand off between a bluejay. and a determined red-belly woodpecker, standing by the suet; and a pretty, female Baltimore oriole, as the rain gently falls, all around her. They are still coming to my feeders, this last week of June.

Next a rain soaked blue jay at my bird bath, and a rose-breasted grosbeak on this wet day. I end today with a rose-breasted pair, establishing dominance atop the feeders, as they compete for the best feeding spots.

Are you planning anything special for this summer weekend? If so, what?

I enjoy capturing and sharing these beauties. I hope you enjoy them, too.

Have a good weekend.
