Congratulations to Valedictorian Malachi Stauring and Salutatorian Jaxon O’Brien!!

From CGCS,

Canisteo-Greenwood is proud to recognize this year’s top students. Valedictorian Malachi Stauring and Salutatorian Jaxon O’Brien will address their classmates during the commencement ceremony on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. on the football field.

Malachi, the son of George and Patty Stauring, has distinguished himself through both academic excellence and community involvement. Throughout his school career, he played an integral role in the Youth and Government Program, beginning in sixth grade and growing into a mentor for younger students. Most recently, he represented Canisteo-Greenwood at the county level.

In addition to his academic accomplishments, Malachi participated in Varsity Swimming, performed in school plays and musicals, and was an active member of the choir. His dedication, leadership, and strong work ethic earned him the distinction of Valedictorian. This fall, he will attend the University of Chicago, where he plans to study Linguistics.

Jaxon O’Brien, son of Christopher and Jolene O’Brien, earned the honor of Salutatorian. During his time at Canisteo-Greenwood, he served as Senior Class President and President of the National Honor Society. Jaxon was also an accomplished athlete, participating in both club and varsity soccer and basketball.

His achievements on the soccer field earned him recognition as the Steuben County Player of the Year and a selection to the Section V All-Star Soccer Team.

Jaxon plans to attend Daemen University this fall, where he will major in Physician Assistant Studies. His goal is to become a Physician Assistant and work in a hospital setting. Reflecting on his high school experience, Jaxon credits Mr. Harman for having a positive impact on his life through lessons that extended beyond the classroom.

He offers the following advice to fellow students: “Good friends make high school so much better.”

Joining Malachi and Jaxon among Canisteo-Greenwood’s Top Ten students are Spencer Berry, Ryan Morling, Parker Dodge, Coby Peters, Kevin Sirianni, Marah Lockwood, Leeta Donohoe, and Angela Delich.

Canisteo-Greenwood congratulates these outstanding students on their achievements. We have no doubt that the future is bright for each of them, as well as for all members of the Class of 2026.
