Evingham (7th grade) and Dyring (8th grade) win back-to-back games as Hornell softball heats up

The Hornell softball team has won two games in a row with an exciting 5-4 see-saw affair over Campbell-Savona and a 7-0 win over Pavilion.

On Saturday, Campbell Savona was up 2-0 entering the bottom of the 6th when Hornell took the lead 3-2. C-S regained the lead in the top of the 7th 4-3 and Hornell came back in the bottom of the 7th to win, 5-4.

Parker Graham walked to lead off the bottom of the 7th, Jordyn Dyring followed up with a single. Ireland Harrison hit a soft grounder and beat out the throw. The throw sailed up the first base line scoring Graham and Dyring for the win.

In the circle for Hornell, 8th-grader Jordyn Dyring recorded the win with a complete game, striking out five, scattering six hits and giving up two earned runs.

She had a RBI single and scored as well.1-4 at the plate with an rbi and a run scored. Graham was 1-2 with 2 walks and 2 runs scored while Raegan Evingham continued her hot hitting with a 2-4 day and a run scored. Haley Smith had a huge 2-run pinch hit single in the 6th.

In the 7-0 win over Pavilion, Evingham, a 7th-grader, earned her first career win with a complete game shutout as she struck out six and walked just one.

At the plate, Evningham went 3-for-4 and scored a run.

Graham was 2-4 with a RBI triple, Ireland Harrison was 2-4 with 2 runs scored and Kaden McGregor had a 2 RBI single.

Hornell is 5-5 on the season and plays four games this week. They will host Letchworth on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and host Alfred-Almond on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
