Announcing a new dedicated obituary page
Sharing in a loss is important for families and the community

When someone passes away in our small, tightly knit community, it has always been a shared loss. Even when we don’t know the deceased or their family, we are very often connected in some way. The obituary doesn’t just give notice and information on the life lost, but also who they left behind.
Being notified when a friend has lost a family member is so important. Learning that the recently deceased worked with a family member is necessary. Reading the obituary of a favorite teacher or school mate or a military veteran is information almost everyone craves. The obituary allows us to show empathy, send flowers, attending a funeral, and even privately grieve.
Obituaries are very important and thanks to the help and guidance of Embser Funeral Home, Baker-Swan Funeral Home, and Dagon Funeral Home, we’ve made a big site improvement. A dedicated Obituaries page has been created, you can find that tab on the top right page menu.
This new section of our website will be great for the folks who, “only read the obits,” or just like to make sure they haven’t missed a local death. Now you don’t need to scan back through pages of news and sports to read the local obituaries.
The obituaries we publish offer funeral homes the ability to include links, multiple images, and best of all our site doesn’t have a paywall and is always free to read. We share all obituaries on our social media page to reach a wider audience and offer the public an opportunity to send condolences or post a personal remembrance.
For families who do not use a traditional funeral home, who primarily handle the obituary, the Sun is always happy to help.
