Canisteo Community Support Group thankful for support from the Canisteo Police Club

The Canisteo Police Club held their annual gun raffle May 21, 2022. Each year the Police Club chooses a local not-for-profit organization to donate $5 per ticket to support the organization. This year the Police Club chose the Canisteo Community Support Group also known as CCSG.

CCSG is a local organization that hosts Canisteo’s annual Crazee Daze and Christmas in the Village events. The organization puts on free events for the public and also makes monetary donation to families stricken by hardships.

Committee President, Rosemary Kneale, says “Like other not-for-profit organizations, we experienced a significant hardship due to COVID-19. We were unable to host Crazee Daze which is a huge fundraising opportunity for us. Additionally, we found more families were struggling due to COVID and we continued to make it our priority to offer support.”

Last year CCSG helped over 24 children during Christmas providing gifts, food and clothing even though they weren’t able to raise funds as they have in years past. “We were fortunate to receive donations from local businesses last Christmas in order to provide free gifts and treats during our Christmas parade last year. With construction downtown, we couldn’t host our normal Crazee Daze and were concerned how we were going to continue to support the community if we had to go another year without fundraising.

When the Police Club notified us that their ticket sale donations would be coming to our committee we were ecstatic! Their donation has provided us the funds we need to keep supporting our community and offer free events. We are hopeful to bring back Crazee Daze next year and we plan to have it bigger and better than ever!” CCSG will continue to work with the Canisteo Police Club and will have a table setup at the third annual Smoke in the Valley.

CCSG is always looking for volunteers and encourages the public to follow them on Facebook at “Canisteo Community Support Group” for more information about upcoming local events.
