Matthew McHale and Joshua Szarek join the department

The Hornell Fire Department is proud to announce that Matthew McHale and Joshua Szarek joined its ranks as Hornell’s newest firefighters earlier this month.  McHale and Szarek were appointed by the Board of Public Safety at its monthly meeting on August 11, 2022.

“These guys are a breath of fresh air and bring a lot of experience to the department,” said Fire Chief Frank Brzozowski “I am excited to bring them abroad and expect they will bring only good things to the department and move us ahead a full 360 degrees.”  Matthew and Joshua have years of service under their belts, as both have served as part-time and/or volunteer firefighters and EMTs prior to joining HFD.

“I am proud to welcome both Matt and Josh to the Hornell Fire Department,” said Mayor John Buckley.  “They will be wonderful additions to our department, and I look forward to having them serve our residents for many years to come.”
