Four Steuben County residents join the ranks of the New York State Police

Governor Kathy Hochul joined Acting Superintendent Steven A. Nigrelli in honoring 218 new New York State Troopers as they graduated today from the 211th session of the Basic School of the New York State Police Academy. Among the graduates are residents of Hammondsport, Dansville, Avoca and Savona. The ceremony was held at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany.

Today’s graduation increases the State Police ranks to 4,742 sworn members. The new Troopers will report for field duty on October 28, 2022. For the following 10 weeks, the new Troopers will be evaluated under a field-training program supervised by senior Field Training Officers.

The new Troopers include Michael R. Gee of Dansville who will be assigned to Troop D, Brent J. Sleve of Savona who is assigned to Troop D, Seth R. Maldonado from Avoca who is assigned to Troop E and Jordan T. Walrath of Hammondsport, also Troop E. In addition, Samantha L. Plass of Hinsdale has been assigned to Troop K. Meanwhile, 16 new Troopers have been assigned to Troop A, which included Allegany County and all of Western New York.
