The Denver Nuggets swept the Los Angeles Lakers to win the Western Conference Championship. The Nuggets dominated the series against the Lakers from the opening tip. Denver will face either the Miami Heat or the Boston Cetics for the NBA Title.
The Lakers were consistently overmatched by the 3-point shooting and quickness of the Nuggets throughout the series. Lakers’ center Anthony Davis had 40-points in game one, but his scoring tailed-off down the stretch. Defensively, Davis played well against Nuggets’ center Nikola Jokic, but was no match for “The Joker’s” scoring and physical play. Nuggets’ forward Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was lights-out shooting the basketball while playing lockdown defense during the series.
The Lakers face a lot of unknowns heading into the offseason. First of all, does the front office personnel believe that Darvin Ham is the long-term answer at head coach. Secondly, will forward Lebron James return for another season or choose to retire while still performing at a high level. Lastly, will the team elect to dump large contracts and continue its youth movement or go all-in for one more ride by being active in free agency.
The Heat lead the Eastern Conference Finals series against the Celtics 3-2. I expect the Celtics to come back and take the series in seven. Inevitably, believe that the Nuggets will win the NBA Title over the
Celtics in six and Jokic will be named as MVP.
