The Hornell Varsity Boys Soccer Team ended their season last Saturday in West Seneca, NY, falling to the undefeated Section VI East Aurora Blue Devils in the Far West Regional matchup. After defeating #4 seeded Bishop Kearney Kings for the Class B Section V Title, the Red Raiders earned their spot in state play for only the second time in school history.
The Hornell High School Athletic Department is proud to recognize the accomplishments of two individuals that helped lead the Red Raiders to an outstanding season.
Senior standout, Jack Emo, was named the Section V Small School Player of the Year. He also earned LCAA’s Most Valuable Player in Livingston County Division I. Emo’s skill and leadership on the soccer field helped lead Hornell to its sixth sectional title in school history. Jack concluded this year as points leader in all of Section V. Last year, Emo broke the Hornell High School scoring record with 25 goals. This year, he crushed his own record with 38 goals in a single season. Emo totaled 91 goals during his high school career.
Hornell’s assistant coach, Caden Dunham was named the Section V Assistant Coach of the Year. Dunham’s year-round dedication to Hornell soccer helps build the program from the ground up. He serves as a varsity assistant coach, but Caden also coaches Hornell’s JV team and works tirelessly with players from grades 2-12 throughout the year. His dedication to the youth of Hornell helped him win this award.
