Steve Peck and David Sutfin are sworn into office

From City of Hornell Mayor John Buckley

Two new aldermen were sworn into office Monday morning at Hornell City Hall. Judge David Coddington administered the oaths of office to 1st Ward Alderman David Sutfin and 4th Ward Alderman Steve Peck.

Mayor John Buckley provided welcoming remarks and said he is looking forward to working with David and Steve in the coming years.

Sutfin had this to say about joining the Common Council:

“My name is David Sutfin and I live on Thacher St in the first ward with my wife Arlene. This is my first venture in politics. I have most of my life on this street and I hope to be a voice for all of my ward.

There will be quite a learning curve. The position not only covers the first ward but the entire city. My hope is to help move Hornell forward in the years to come. As a lifelong resident of Hornell I have some great memories growing up here. A vibrant downtown  and a lot of friendly people. I hope to bring pride back into neighborhoods.

My phone is always on and I will address whatever comes my way to the best of my ability. Thank you. “

Steve Peck is the new Alderman from the 4th Ward, endorsed by Mayor Buckley. He issued this statement after bring sworn into office:

“I’m Steve Peck I was elected as the Alderman for the Fourth Ward in November 2023. I have lived in Hornell for 23 years and brought my daughter up in this great community. During my 23 years in Hornell, I’ve been a board member and president of the St. James Foundation, Kiwanis Club, Hornell YMCA and Hornell Partners for Growth. I’m excited to serve and advocate for residents of the 4th Ward, and look forward to working with Mayor Buckley and the members of the Common Council.”
