Amy Bennett and Spencer Peavey have joined the board of the Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc.

The Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc., a private foundation representing faculty, staff, and friends of Alfred State College (ASC), recently have added Amy Bennett and Spencer Peavey to their board.
Bennett, the Chief Operating Officer at Northern Lights Candles, will serve on the property and by-law committees. Northern Lights Candles is a preeminent luxury candle manufacturer in Wellsville, NY. The company employs over one hundred talented candlemakers, whose creations brighten boutiques and major retailers worldwide. In her role she manages all operations of the company.
She is the chair of the Wellsville Economic Development Board, serves on the Perkins Advisory Board, the Wellsville Chamber of Commerce board, the James Memorial Hospital board, and the Alfred University Employer Advisory board.
Bennett earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and in art from the University of Arkansas Little Rock and then earned a Master of Fine Arts from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.
Peavey, the Assistant Vice President of Student & Employee Affairs at Alfred State, will serve on the public relations and audit & finance committees. He oversees Student Engagement, Health and Wellness, Civic Engagement, Career Development, and New Student Orientation. In 2014 he was the recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service.
He holds professional affiliations with the Association of College Unions International, the National Association for Campus Activities, and served four years as the Upper New York State coordinator for the National Orientation Directors Association.
Peavey is also a coach and a board member with the Wellsville Little League and was the former Vice President of the Wellsville Chamber of Commerce.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts and his Master of Science in Education from St. Bonaventure.
The Educational Foundation would also like to recognize the commitment and service of three longstanding members of the organization, Mary Scholla, Sandy Sawyer, and Peter McClain. Scholla served as the Operations Manager for over ten years, Sawyer served in a variety of positions on the board and on committees for twenty years, and McClain was the Audit & Finance Committee Chair and the Secretary/Treasurer.
Board member John Sadowski has been named the new Secretary/Treasurer of the foundation while Samantha Brockway has been appointed the new Operations Manager.
The Educational Foundation of Alfred, Inc. is dedicated to improving the college community through support of educational programs. The Foundation provides monetary support to enhance learning opportunities for students through scholarships and academic club and curriculum activities.
