The trap team finished 10th at the 2024 National Trap Shooting Championships

The Alfred State Trap team finished 10th at the 2024 National Trap Shooting Championships held in Bunker Hill, IL. The Pioneers were the top team in the Northeast and the top team from New York.
Jacob Bartlett was the top Pioneer finisher with a score of 188. He tied for 30th with Joe MacFarlane from Ferris State University.
Daniel Stang finished 62nd with a score of 183 while teammate Ashley Burrows was 63rd with the same score. Teresa Cicora finished tied for 75th with 182 while William Smith was 77th with a 182.
Hunter Meyers was T-79th (181), Jairo Agosto was 90th (180), Maddison Gietler was tied for 91st (180), Jameson Martin was 95th (180).
Head Coach Brad Smith was proud of his team’s efforts. “We have come a long way from starting this club last year. To be able to travel to Illinois and compete with the best of the best is quite an accomplishment. I am excited to see where continued hard work will take this team.”
Each student took two rounds of fifty shots on each day of the two-day competition. The top five shooters score was used to calculate the final team scores.
In total twelve Pioneers competed in the event that included just over 200 shooters. Sixteen teams scored team points with the Pioneers accumulating 918 total points out of the possible 1,000.
