From City of Hornell Mayor John Buckley,

Each year, the honor of Grand Marshal is bestowed upon someone who not only embodies the spirit of our community, but also exemplifies the energy and joy that our St. Patrick’s Day celebration represents. This year, I have chosen an individual whose vibrant personality and dedication to our community has made a lasting impact on the lives of many.

This individual’s upbeat, positive, and energetic personality perfectly reflects the joy and enthusiasm that this special day brings to our city. As a retired school teacher, she has shaped and nurtured generations of young minds, instilling in them a love of learning, kindness, and community.

Beyond her work in the classroom, this year’s Grand Marshal continues to be an active and dedicated leader in the Hornell community. She is an integral member of the Hornell Community Theater, where her passion for the arts has contributed to countless productions that have entertained and brought joy to our community. Her tireless efforts and dedication to making Hornell a better place to live, work, and play have made her a beloved figure.

She currently serves as the Exalted Ruler of the Hornell Elks, where her leadership and service help further the Elks’ mission of charity, community involvement, and fellowship. Her commitment to improving the lives of those around her is truly remarkable.

I enthusiastically announce our Grand Marshall for the 2025 St. Patrick’s Day Parade is Penny Smith!
