Your Hornell Area Wind Ensemble proudly presents a Memorial Day Weekend Concert Event! Come join them on Saturday, May 23rd at 8 PM at the Arkport Central School Performing Arts Center!
This will not be just a concert. You will not only experience uplifting patriotic music, you will also hear tunes from many other genres. Retired Army Sergeant Major and baritone vocalist Bob McDonald will sing selections from Frank Sinatra and more! Retired Sergeant Major Mike McGhee will be featured in several selections.
The Wind Ensemble will be conducted by retired Army Lt. Colonel Beth Steele. Col. Steele is a gifted musician, trumpet player, and director. During her Army career, Col. Steele was the commander of the U S Army Europe Band & Chorus in Heidelberg, Germany and conducted the band in an historic performance in Red Square as well as a performance for her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II of England!
Surrounding this entire eventful evening the Wind Ensemble will be memorializing and remembering all our fallen heroes over the past 250 years as well as honoring all veterans from all services throughout the years. Local Legions, AMVETS, and VFW will participate as you will experience Flag Line with Veteran Pinning, Honor Guard and Presentation of Colors, Armed Services Salute, and much more! A light reception will follow the concert.
As always, the Hornell Area Wind Ensemble proudly presents all of their concerts free of charge! Come early and if possible, car pool with your friends and family as parking is limited.
