Discolored water in the City of Hornell?

Update on lingering water issues in parts of the city

We understand many residents are still experiencing discolored water.  In some cases, the discoloration comes and goes. In other cases, it is more consistent with residents in some parts of the city experiencing this while others are not.  Our Water Plant Operators have made a number of adjustments and are working diligently, around the clock, to resolve this matter as quickly as possible.

We understand the concern and frustration of residents and want to assure you this matter is our top priority.  We are working with the New York State Health Department and at this time the water, while unpleasing to the eye, is safe for use.

We will continue to work with the NYS Health Department to monitor water quality while we work to correct the discoloration.  We will keep residents advised of any changes throughout the weekend and will provide an update as soon as one is available.

We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to correct this matter as quickly as possible.

If you have any questions please contact Mitchell Cornish, Superintendent of Public Works at 324-7421.
