Kevin Tibbets was charged with multiple felonies
Michael T. Baldwin Reports
Canisteo Police Chief Kyle Amidon says his department has leveled more than three dozen counts, most felonies, against a 43-year-old man from Arkport following an alleged two-week crime spree. Taken into custody was Kevin J. Tibbits. He now faces 16 counts of felony first-degree criminal contempt, 15 counts of felony aggravated family offense, felony strangulation, attempted assault and four counts of child endangerment. Amidon said the arrest stemmed from a lengthy investigation developing evidence of crimes committed over a two-week span. Tibbits was accused of violating a court-mandated order of protection. There were no serious injuries reported, Amidon said.
Tibbits was taken to the Steuben County Jail pending court action. The investigation was assisted by the Hornell City Police department and the New York State Division of Parole.
