A female perished in the Bonny Hill Road blaze
From the New York State Police:
On February 16, 2023, the State Police responded to a fatal house fire located at 6003 Bonny Hill Road in the town of Bath. When troopers arrived they made entry, but had to retreat out of the house due to heavy smoke. One resident, Joyce Kautz, was located in her bedroom deceased after the fire was extinguished.
Steuben County Fire, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, the Bath Fire Department, the Bath VA Fire Department, and Bath Volunteer Ambulance assisted the State Police.
The investigation is continuing at this time.
